Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has dismissed the assertion made by BRS MLA Harish Rao, who claimed that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is the "father" of Telangana.

Revanth Reddy stated that KCR lacks the credentials necessary for such a comparison.

Speaking at a public meeting for the Praja Palana-Pragathi Bhata event in Station Ghanpur in Jangaon district on Sunday, the Chief Minister questioned, "Can the true father of the nation recognise the scent of alcohol, and would this supposed Father of the Nation even function without the aroma of alcohol?"

He emphasised that the genuine fathers of Telangana are Konda Laxman Bapuji and Jayashankar, asserting that KCR can never hold this title due to his alleged involvement in massive financial corruption and his reported drinking habits.

"KCR, who has taken advantage of the people, cannot be considered the Father of Telangana. The true Father of the Nation dedicates his life to serving Dalit communities, while KCR currently enjoys the comforts of his farmhouse. The BRS leader lacks the qualifications to be compared to the Father of Telangana," Revanth Reddy remarked.

The Chief Minister stated that former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao left a debt of Rs8.29 lakh crore for the people of Telangana. In just one year, the current Congress government has already repaid Rs.1.53 lakh crore in both interest and principal on the debts incurred.

It is important for the public to understand the financial status of Telangana," he added.
